Applicants who can submit an application consist of:
a. Indonesian citizens; and/or foreign nationals who are members of a patent cooperation treaty member country; and/or
b. legal entities in Indonesia and/or foreign legal entities incorporated in member countries of the patent cooperation treaty.
Applicants can file an appeal to the Appeals Commission with supporting data:
- Letter of application for appeal
- Letter of results of initial and advanced substantive examinations
- Letter of patent rejection
- Proof of payment
The drawing must use A4 size white drawing paper with a minimum weight of 100 (one hundred) grams that is not glossy with the following borders:
1. from the top edge 2.5 cm (two point five centimeters);
2. from the bottom edge 1 cm (one centimeter);
3. from the left edge 2.5 cm (two point five centimeters); and
4. from the right edge 1.5 cm (one point five centimeters).

physical requirements are as follows:
a. Description, Claim, and Abstract are typed on HVS paper sheets with A4 paper size (29.7 centimeters x 21 centimeters) with a minimum weight of 80 (eighty) gsm;
b. A4 paper must be white, flat, not shiny, and done by placing the short sides at the top and bottom (except when used for Images); and
c. the font type for writing the Description is Courier New size 12 (twelve).

The format for writing the Description, Claim, and Abstract is as follows:
a. writing limits:
   1. from the top edge 2 cm (two centimeters);
   2. from the bottom edge 2 cm (two centimeters);
   3. from the left edge 2.5 cm (two point five centimeters); and4. from the right edge 2 cm (two centimeters);
b. writing the Description, Claim, and Abstract is done on only one side of the front;
c. each sheet of the Description, Claim, and Abstract is numbered sequentially according to Arabic numerals in the top center and not on the border;
d. every five lines of description and Claim typing, must be given a line number which on each new page always starts from the beginning and is placed on the left side of the paper and not on the border;
e. typing must be done using black, with a line spacing of 1.5 (one and a half) and with upright letters with a minimum letter height of 0.31 (zero point three one) cm; and
f. signs with lines, chemical or mathematical formulas and certain signs can be written by hand or painted, if necessary.

7. Power of Attorney (if submitted through a consultant);
8. BM Certificate (if the applicant is a micro or small business);
9. Decree of Establishment Deed (if the applicant is an educational institution or government research and development)
Patent registration fees:
  • Simple Patent (MB): Rp 200,000/claim
  • Simple Patent (general): Rp 800,000/claim
  • Ordinary Patent (MB): Rp 350,000/claim
  • Ordinary Patent (general): Rp 1,250,000/claim
1. The applicant can submit a written withdrawal of the application.    
2. Withdrawal Application can be submitted before the final decision (rejected or approved).
3. Fees that have been paid cannot be withdrawn.

Withdrawal Application is submitted by the Applicant or his/her Attorney
The applicant may submit a written withdrawal of the application.
1. The applicant submits the application electronically by downloading the page at www.dgip.go.id, in accordance with the regulations regarding patent applications that are in effect in Indonesia.
2. All attachments in a foreign language must be translated into Indonesian.
3. The translation into Indonesian must be submitted no later than 30 (thirty) days from the date of submission.
In the event that the application has passed the time period, the application is not processed using the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
1. Applications submitted based on the international acceptance date may be given a maximum extension of 3 (three) months from the application deadline.
2. Applications submitted based on the priority rights date may be given a maximum extension of 12 (twelve) months from the deadline for application submission.
Applications that have exceeded the 31 (thirty one) month period can still submit an application accompanied by reasons of inadvertence and be subject to a fee.
Applications based on the Patent Cooperation Treaty submitted with Indonesia as the destination office must be submitted no later than 31 (thirty one) months from:
a. international acceptance date; or
b. earliest Priority Rights date.
Applicants who can submit an application consist of:
a. Indonesian legal entity or Indonesian citizen; and/or
b. Foreign legal entities or foreign citizens domiciled in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
c. In the case of more than one applicant, at least one applicant must be domiciled in the territory of the First State of the Republic of Indonesia
Applicants submit applications electronically, by downloading the International Intellectual Property Agency or WIPO page, in accordance with applicable regulations in Indonesia and PCT provisions
Applicants can submit patent applications through the Patent Directorate, DTSLST and RD to one or more countries that have ratified the cooperation treaty.
Applications through the Patent Cooperation Treaty can be submitted through the following mechanisms:
a. Indonesia as Receiving Office; or
b. Indonesia as Destination Office.
The PCT is a patent application submission system designed to facilitate the process of obtaining patent protection from one country to many countries that have ratified the treaty through the International Bureau of
Divisional Applications may be submitted before the final decision by the Minister.
